At the entry of Confuser section, Flue gas stream meets the water sprays. The use of spray nozzles is avoided as they have tendencies to get chocked . Instead , perforated spray header located in the inner wall of confuser is used , which results in effective cooling . Another internal spray header is located near the throat region . Cooling water is supplied to spray header located outside the saturator body at about 1 Kg./cm2 in two levels. This spray header in turn converts by means of quick fixing flexible hoses for the ease of operation and maintenance.
We have envisaged a double flap type rectangular throat for imposing the desired pressure drop in the range of 400mmwg along with adequate water sprays. To limit the pressure drop to the specified level, we use the flap actuating arrangement to have a minimum throat opening 250-200mm, L/G ration is in the range of 0.4 to 0.45m3 of saturated gas. This ensures on overall cleaning efficiency of 99.5% . Outlet emission level will be in the range of 45-50mg/Nm3. For achieving the effective throat region , gas then enters the diffuser section . Here , a substantial pressure gain takes place. Particular matter mixed with excess of water , passes into liquid phase and leaves the diffuser section through the flooded elbow to find its way into inlet flange of centrifugal separator.
